BCD Group is originally a Dutch company, founded by John A. Fentener van Vlissingen in 1975. BCD Group is operating at more than 1,500 locations and has approximately 12,000 employees. BCD has owned operations in 30 countries and partners and affiliates in 97 countries all over the globe.

2013: SALES GROWTH OF 5%

Despite relentless market challenges, international travel company BCD Group closed the year 2013 with increased annual sales. Over 2013 the company achieved total sales of US$ 24 billion, including US$ 9.2 billion in partner sales. EBITDA before one-off items rose slightly to US$ 128 million.

9 May 2014: D-RT Group acquires BCD Group’s minority stake in VakantieXperts.

2014

29 April 2014: Effective 1 May, BCD Travel names a new CEO: John Snyder, and a new COO: Mike Janssen. Joop Drechsel steps down (as CEO of BCD Travel) to focus more on his responsibilities as CEO of BCD Group.

16 July 2013: Concur acquires TRX.

2012

BCD Travel celebrates its 25th anniversary with special jubilee events.

2011
  • Merger of Cheaptickets, Vliegwinkel, Vayama, BudgetAir and Flugladen into 'Travix’.
  • Acquisition of EasyToBook.com by Travix.
2008

Parkmobile International, global provider of mobile parking and traffic applications, is founded.

2006

BCD announces its acquisition of German multinational TQ3 Travel Solutions Management Holding GmbH and of British The Travel Company. Merging these 2 companies with WorldTravel BTI BCD Travel is a fact, creating the 3rd largest travel management company in the world.

2005

BCD celebrates its 30th anniversary with special jubilee events.

2004

Opening customer service and reservations center in Bangalore, India for travel clients.

2003
  • John A. Fentener van Vlissingen is honoured as “Dutch Travel Manager of the Year”.
  • Joop Drechsel is appointed as CEO of BCD Holdings N.V.
1997

Acquisition of Airtrade, Haarlem, the Netherlands.

1996

BCD is exclusive sponsor for travel services of the Atlanta Olympic and Paralympic games.

1995

Acquisition of Rottink Travel Group, a travel company with 50 travel agencies in the Netherlands and sales of US$ 90 million.

1990

Acquisition of TRX (at the time named Travel Technology Group, Dallas, Texas) for US$ 80,000.

1988
  • Acquisition of Park 'N Fly, an off-airport parking operation that operates parkings with 10 locations near major airports in the USA.
  • BCD’s Dutch office moves from Utrecht to the historic country mansion 'Ma retraite’ in Zeist.
1987

Acquisition of WorldTravel Advisors, a business travel agency in Atlanta with 14 offices and sales of US$ 50 million.

1980
  • John Fentener van Vlissingen leaves Pierson, Heldring & Pierson bank to devote himself full time to the company.
  • Opening of the first USA office in downtown Atlanta (Georgia).
1976

Opening the first office in the SHV building in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

1975

4 September 1975: founding of BCD by John A. Fentener van Vlissingen. BCD Holdings started with a founding capital of US$ 10,000 and 2 employees.
