BCD Holdings expects increased sales for 2012
Growth in Asia and America | Expansion into 6 countries
The Netherlands, Zeist, 2 November 2012 – International travel company BCD Holdings N.V. is expecting sales to rise by 5 to 10% for the year 2012. Last year the company achieved record sales of US$ 22.1 billion. A solid expected performance, as the global recession – particularly in Europe – continues and also softens growth in other regions.
Growth and recovery
Business travel company BCD Travel started the year 2012 with a financially strong first quarter. The persistent challenges experienced in the Eurozone in the subsequent months were compensated globally by growth in other regions. Joop Drechsel, CEO BCD: “Asia and Latin America are important growth markets for us and we are also seeing a recovery in the North American market at present.”
Expansion into 6 countries
In 2012 internet travel company Travix launched new websites in Ireland, Luxembourg, Spain, Brazil, Russia and China. “The start-up costs are being rewarded with strong sales growth in these new markets. Economies of scale are crucial in order to remain successful and to become a global e-commerce specialist”, says Drechsel.
BCD Holdings expects to publish its definitive results for the year 2012 in early 2013. In a new Industry Forecast for 2013, operating company and travel sector expert Advito foresees a slight decrease in travel from Europe and America, while global demand continues to rise unabated.
